TOFIFEST LOCALIZATIONS
FILMS from Kujawy and Pomorze, from Toruń and Bydgoszcz

LOCALIZATIONS is a innovatory film initiative, branded by TOFIFEST, one of three unique - together with FOCUS TOFIFEST and SCHOOL MARKET - initiatives of our fest.

The aim of creating LOCALIZATIONS was to promote in Poland and abroad the works of filmmakers deriving from Toruń and Bydgoszcz - the capital cities of Kujawy and Pomorze, and in the same time, the towns in which TOFIFEST is held. Such figures as Łukasz Karwowski, Maciej Cuske, Marcin Sauter, Tomasz Szafrański, Piotr Głowacki, Rafał Kapeliński are already giving instructions for young Polish cinema. But there are much more of Torunian-Bydgoszczan „film pearls”. Thanks to TOFIFEST LOCALIZATIONS they became known to the viewers in many towns of Poland and two continents. For we were screening the films in over 50 Polish towns, and, among others, in Prague and Brno [Czech Republic], Berlin [Germany] or Ulan Bator [Mongolia].

The idea of LOCALIZATIONS - the idea of presenting independent cinema made by authors connected with one region - was born together with TOFIFEST in 2003, together with FLISAK Award. This yearly notification is given by The Mayor of Toruń and goes to the TOFIFEST best film made by the author bound with Kujawy and Pomorze. Up to now FLISAK went to Iwona Strzałka, Mariusz Kata, Maciej Cuske, Rafał Kapeliński, Tomasz Szafrański, Łukasz Karwowski. Waldemar Grzesik, Radosław Smużny and Krystian Wieczyński. The accuracy of the choice was confirmed by the jurors of other festivals. FLISAK winners have been awarded from Moscow to St. Louis.

We screened the first LOCALIZATIONS [as "TOFIFEST MULTIPACK"] in 2005. Up to now you can invite it to your place - to your country or town. MULTIPACK - as its name says - is a pack of many various films. From the feature films, through documentaries, up to experiments or the works which use the motion picture merely as a means. MULTIPACK presents as well the figures who have already became trademarks in Polish young cinema - like Maciej Cuske [FLISAK TOFIFEST’2004] or Tomasz Szafrański [FLISAK and GOLDEN MANEQUIN TOFIFEST’2005, SLAMDANCE’2006 Jury's Award], as the authors of great artistic potential, like Jacek Szymczak, Jacek Czapnik [Grand Prix Fish Eye FF, Mongolia] or Łukasz Romanow.

There is the video „Liga Polskich Rodzin” by controversial music group „Butelka” and satirical etudes of Kompania M3 collective [authors of screenplay to the famous independent comedy „1409 - Bartenstein Castle Affair”]. In the pack, there are also brave animations by Jacek Kościuszko  [GOLDEN MANEQUIN TOFIFEST’2004], excellent documentary on Torunian gothic by Ryszard Kruk or awarded many times documentaries of Iwona Strzałka. Among others, „Szymon Python” [FLISAK TOFIFEST’2003] about young satiric suffering from schizophrenia who is in love with Monthy Python's sketches.

And - what is most important for us - LOCALIZATIONS is every year enlarged by new films.
