Piotr GŁOWACKI - actor

One of the greatest acting illuminations of recent years. As an effect, he was nominated this year for a prestigeous Zbigniew Cybulski Award for a young actor. Born on March 29th, 1980 in Torun. Before making the decision of becoming an actor, he studied law for a year at Nicolas Copernicus University in Torun. Later on he entered Warsaw’s Theatre Academy and ended up at PWST in Cracow. He made his first steps in a TV-series "Na Wspólnej" [2003]. In 2004 he acted in theater, i.e. in plays of one of the most important European directors – Grzegorz Jarzyna. In 2005 he made his feature debut – Leszek Wosiewicz’s "Rozdroże Cafe". Same year he played in a famous Jarzyna’s experimental spectacle – "2007: Macbeth", where he played Malcolm, Duncan’s son.
Though, the greatest illumination of Głowacki’s talent was the role in "Oda do radości" [2005, Jury’s Award in Gdynia, Rotterdam IFF official selection], where he played the protagonist of one of three stories which were parts of the feature – Michał, who wanted to be a hip-hop musician. Głowacki perfectly outlined the figure of a youngster who desperately wants to proove that he is worth something. In 2006 he appeared in Mathias Mezler’s independent project "Off", which depicted the backstage of making independent films. He also acted at Stary Theater in Cracow.
Głowacki’s career is developing well. The important thing is that he does not avoid independent projects which require a large dose of commitment on his side.

Dariusz NOJMAN - director

One of the brightest illuminations of Polish independent cinema in recent years, awarded this year’s Special Distinction at Polish FFF in Gdynia. A self-made filmmaker, with no film education, he created several sparkling feature films. Born in 1981 in Upper Silesia, he graduated from high school with the diploma in… electronic installation mechanics.

At Silesian University he graduated with a diploma in social and educational work. After classes he was grabbing the camera and made artistic actions. In his childhood he was watching numerous films from his mother’s video rental. That was his theoretical education. About five years ago he took the camera for the first time. It was an old VHS model. His first film "Hobby", was awarded with Grand Prix at "Oskariada" Festival in 2004. In 2005 he made his first comedy "Studia upadku" – which was awarded on numerous Polish independent cinema festivals [Special Distinction in GDYNIA].

He wants to make entertaining and nice-to-watch cinema, which Polish cinematography is lacking.

2004: Na drodze zła

Anna JADOWSKA - director

Jadowska is one of the biggest Polish film talents of recent years. A Polish Philology at Wrocław University graduate. Born in 1973 in Oleśnica. Is a graduate of film directing department at PWSFTviT in Łódź. Is a laureate of Best Debut Award at Polish Feature Films Festival in Gdynia [2005] for “Teraz ja”, which will be screened in Torun. Her previous film “Dotknij mnie” [TOFIFEST’2003 competition] was also noticed in Gdynia and received Grand Prix in the independent section for „truth on the screen, formal invention, modern storytelling and rapacity in showing Polish reality". In 2005 Jadowska was nominated for prestigeous Paszport Polityki award in the FILM category.
She also writes excellent screenplays. She won Grand Prix in Polish edition of international Hartley-Merrill screenplay competition. Jury distinguished the text “Z miłości” about erotic business in Poland. Jadowska’s screenplay was chosen out of 126 works. She is also appreciated by the critics: „Jadowska is excellent in working with actors and amateurs, she has a rare ear for dialogues, their melodics and rhythm. The environment is as important as the main story – full of parallel stories – bloody, comic and tragic but never caricatural figures (...)” - wrote Paweł T. Felis in Gazeta Wyborcza [2005].
Jadowska is one of those filmmakers who do not close their creation in Polish yard. Her films are universal and convince the viewers no matter where they come from. The argent reception of her films at various festivals are the best proof for it [i.e. at XXVIII Moscow IFF’2006 in the section „Perspectives”].
