TOFIFEST Organizers

Festival is organized by young staff. Among them you will find various young people, who are joined by one - passsion and faith that it is worth to organize TOFIFEST for you, the viewers, and for the love for the cinema as an art itself. It would be hard to mention them all here, as well as the organizations that are helping us in making TOFIFEST, so we present only the festival’s executives and its main producers.


Katarzyna JAWORSKA
Director of the Festival since its beginning. She graduated the film sciences. The promoter of film, creator of film initiatives in Poland and abroad. Member of film associations and the juries of film festivals. A laureate of the title Person of the Year’2006 by region „Nowości” daily [Golden Carriage] for the organization of TOFIFEST. Nominated for the title Person of the Year by „Gazeta Wyborcza Daily” in Torun in 2008 and by „Teraz Toruń” weekly in 2008 for cultural activity, organization of TOFIFEST and running the Orzeł studio cinema. Founder of Biuro Kultury Foundation, that makes the theatrical-artistic festival BULWAR SZTUKI [Boulevard of Art]. Member of the board of Polish Independent Cinema Award. Co-creator of artistic Summer Fear Festival.


Jarosław JAWORSKI
Co-creator of the Festival. Screenwriter, director, draftsman and producer of cultural events. The pioneer of Polish independent film in the 1990s. Publicist, among others for cultural „Lampa” monthly and „Gazeta Wyborcza Daily”. Author of film screenplays. Co-author of screenplay for the comedy on Teutonic knights „1409 – Bartenstein Castle Affair” [in which famous Polish actors starred: Brodzik, Szyc, Machulski and others]. Co-founder of satirical group Kompania M3. Founder of first in Torun flying art gallery [1996, Punkt Gallery]. Winner of draught competitions in Poland and abroad [from Czech Republic to Iran], co-operate of, among others, „Rzeczpospolita”, „Playboy”, „Szpilki” „Superexpress”. For many years a journalist and spokesperson of international film and theatre festivals. Editor-in-Chief of cultural-inquiry „ILUSTRATOR” monthly magazine. Creator of Poland’s First Internet Cabaret HUMORIA.pl.
 

BIURO KULTURY Foundation
Festival’s producer. The Foundation became famous by organizing the Summer Festival of Art, Film and Theatre BOULEVARD OF ART [BULWAR SZTUKI], that presented the best of Polish and East European independent theatre stage, reviews af African cinema and thriller cinema. The Foundation closely co-operates with Teatr Wiczy  theatrical centre. Its leader, Romuald Wicza Pokojski is an appreciated director, considered as one of the most interesting independent creators. He has, among others, directed for Gdansk’s Szybki Teatr Miejski Project for Wybrzeże Theatre, and at Warsaw’s Dramatyczny Theatre. He also worked at Teatr Narodowy [National Theatre] in Warsaw.
