The film ‘Chleb i sól / Bread and Salt’ wins Tofifest 2023! ‘Prawdziwe życie aniołów / True Life of Angels’ wins the Polish Competition
Polish cinema was definitely a triumphant during the Closing Ceremony of the 21st edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival. Kujawy Pomorze Region. The jury appointed to award the début and sophomore films in the On Air Competition decided to award film director Damian Kocur for his ‘Chleb i sól / Bread and Salt’. As for the From Poland section of the Festival, where the main award is given by the jury, the winner was the film ‘Prawdziwe życie aniołów / True Life of Angels’ directed by Artur ‘Baron’ Więcek.
‘Chleb i sól / Bread and Salt’ – the winner in the ON AIR Competition
After a long discussion, the jury comprised of the following people: Matylda Damięcka, Agnieszka Kruk, Kuba Czekaj, Tomasz Schuchardt, and Janusz Zaorski, came to the decision to give the main prize in the On Air Competition to the film ‘Chleb i sól / Bread and Salt’ directed by Damian Kocur. It is another important award given to the film that had already been recognised at other film festivals, such as the International Film Festival in Venice, and many others.
‘Prawdziwe życie aniołów / True Life of Angels’ – the winner in the FROM POLAND Competition
It has been our long standing tradition that it is up to the audience to decide which film wins the main award in the From Poland Competition during the Tofifest International Film Festival. Kujawy Pomorze Region. This year, they decided that the film ‘Prawdziwe życie aniołów / True Life of Angels’, which marks a triumphant return of actor Krzysztof Globisz to the silver screen, was worthy of recognition.
During the Closing Ceremony of the Festival, a number of awards was also presented to the following artists:
- Adrianna Biedrzyńska – The Flisak Award of the President of Toruń,
- Lena Góra – The Bella Women Golden Angel Award for a European Actress,
- Magdalena Zawadzka – The Golden Angel Award for a Lady of Polish Cinema,
- Eryk Lubos – The Golden Angel for Artistic Insolence.
A concert performed by Warszawska Orkiestra Sentymentalna (Sentimental Warsaw Orchestra) added splendour to the ceremony.
