Tormented by a mysterious story that his demented mother keeps retelling to him, Munir travels to a distant island on the North Sea with the intention to end his life. On that gusty island where nature can offer both shelter and grave danger, Munir meets Valeska, an enigmatic woman, and her conservative son Karl. They do not talk much, but as time passes small acts of kindness slowly overcome the initial distrust. Finally, the island itself and its overwhelming majestic nature start to change the course of Munir’s fate.
