Corry is a French woman living in Japan. Her life partner is Jin. She works in a hospital in Kobe, where she takes care of children waiting for a heart transplant. In Japan, a country that still finds it culturally difficult to accept the concept of organ donation, Corry must disarm social resistance on a daily basis and alter public perspective, while fighting to win any potential donor. When Jin disappears without trace, Corry is desperately trying to find her. At the same time, she must race against time against all odds, to make sure that one of her young patients gets the transplant they are waiting for. Both her personal and professional lives get entangled into an interconnecting network that keeps getting thicker and thicker. A network in which each decision means life or death. The film ‘Yakushima’s Illusion’ is a story about love, loss, and the limits of responsibility, stretching between France and Japan – in world, where science, ethics, and emotions are in a never-ending conflict.
