We are in a Polish village, in the heartland of Romania, where time simply flows slower. Hanka and Bronka, two widows and mothers whose children went abroad to look for work, find the strength to go on in humour and friendship. Each day brings about a new challenge, and their lives are filled with loneliness, memories, and a deep need for closeness. The women support one another and try to find a meaning in a world that is slowly transforming. They will soon have to make decisions and face what the future is about to bring. Will the little micro-cosmos they have built together stand the test of time? The film ‘Double Trouble’ is a heart-warming and affectionate documentary about growing old, friendship, and life on the outskirts of contemporary Europe.
