The dark tunnels of a mine devour those poor souls who decide to sacrifice their lives and health to look for the precious glittering ore. The film ‘Silver’ is a heart-breaking documentary taking place in the heartland of Bolivia, deep under the mountain of Cerro Rico. The mountain that has been consuming human lives for centuries. Film director Natalia Koniarz delivers a portrait of the brutal reality of the people who live and work in the shadow of the notorious silver mine. Three protagonists: a boy, a woman, and an old miner, take us on a journey into the world where child labour is a norm, and where the thin line between survival and death becomes even thinner in the density of dust clouds. The film is both a visually stunning and shocking story about the victims of neocapitalism that nobody sees, and about the price people pay to get access to natural resources.
