Tess Durbeyfield, young and penniless woman, suddenly learns that her family can be related to the old aristocratic family – the d'Urbervilles. When she gets sent to the wealthy ‘relatives,’ she falls victim to manipulations and aggression from Alec d’Urberville. After a series of tragic events, she decided to start a new life and falls in love with Angel Clare. Unfortunately, her past catches up with her and leads to more dramas and dilemmas. The film portrays a woman struggling with social inequity, moral hypocrisy, and her own longing for happiness.
