It is the first ever documentary film dedicated to the female gingerbread bakers from Toruń. It is also a very unique story in which the floor is given to the women whose create, research, and take care of the gingerbread traditions on a daily basis. The film presents a variety of women: researchers, directors, and museum workers, a woodcarver creating gingerbread moulds, village housewives, and a businesswoman running a gingerbread shop and café, and finally a co-president of the biggest gingerbread factory in Europe. All the women in the film share the same passion for the history and traditions related to gingerbread. All their activities are part of the efforts to include the gingerbread traditions from Toruń to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The film is an example of the film genre promoting the feminine perspective (‘herstory’): the gingerbread from Toruń has a woman’s face.
