It is a very intimate psychological drama about a married couple going through trauma after losing a child. Agnieszka retreats into her own shell, while Darek rediscovers his Silesian roots in the hope to find his true identity. This is his way to rebuild himself and save their marriage. In the film, the region of Silesia becomes an equal protagonist, adding its specificity, distinctiveness, and language to the picture. Title ‘godanie’ (Silesian ethnolect) is a symbol of a profound desire to find an understanding and closeness. For both protagonists the tragedy is the beginning of a painful process of confronting one’s selfishness, which leads to an important question: can pain offer a chance for a rebirth?
