The film ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ was produced by the A24 company and features Rose Byrne in the main role for which she was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe. It is an emotional roller-coaster about Linda, a woman for who each single day is a never-ending struggle with the reality, the life that keeps falling apart, and with her own limits of resilience. When her daughter is stricken with an unknown disease and her husband goes away on business, Linda’s world starts to disintegrate and turns into a steeplechase that has no finish line. The film literally boils with tension and emotion, full of close-ups of immense intensity. Rose Byrne’s acting is worthy of an Oscar, becoming a masterful slalom course from anger, despair, and determination, to madness. It is a very realistic, poignant, and disturbing portrayal of a woman struggling to hold on to what is left of the foundation, amidst an overwhelming chaos. Film director Mary Bronstein, who found inspiration for the film in her own life experiences, and producer Josh Safdie (‘Uncut Gems’) offer a piece of cinema that debunks the myth of ideal motherhood and leaves you completely dumbfounded. In the supporting roles, you will see Conan O’Brien as a therapist, and rapper A$AP Rocky as a motel caretaker.
