Polish Creators, Global Cinema: Behind the Scenes of International Production

Alicja Bachleda-Curuś – an actress who has built her film career across the Polish, European and American markets for more than two decades. Known for her role as Zosia in Andrzej Wajda’s Pan Tadeusz, she later appeared in European and Hollywood productions, including Trade alongside Kevin Kline and Neil Jordan’s Irish film Ondine.

Anna Próchniak – a film and theatre actress who has steadily developed an international career for more than a decade. She played the lead role of Gita in the SkyShowtime series The Tattooist of Auschwitz alongside Harvey Keitel, earning a BAFTA Scotland Awards nomination. In 2026, a new film starring Jean Dujardin and directed by Xavier Giannoli is set for release.

Aneta Hickinbotham – film producer, Member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy. She gained experience on such Polish productions as Pan Tadeusz and The Pianist, before working on major Hollywood productions including Troy (dir. Wolfgang Petersen), Munich (dir. Steven Spielberg) and The Legend of Zorro (dir. Martin Campbell). She received the Golden Lions at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival and a Polish Film Institute Award for The Last Family directed by Jan P. Matuszyński. She also produced Corpus Christi, directed by Jan Komasa, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Feature Film and received the Polish Film Award Eagle for Best Film.

Witold Szabłowski – journalist and non-fiction writer, one of the most internationally recognised Polish authors. His books are published by Penguin Random House and translated into numerous languages. In June 2026, the documentary How to Feed a Dictator, based on his book, had its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival in New York, founded by Robert De Niro. Szabłowski co-wrote the screenplay and served as a co-producer.
