To mark the 50th anniversary of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, we have included a special section – The Golden Lions of Krzysztof Kieślowski, featuring three films by the outstanding director that were honored with this prestigious award. The screenings will be accompanied by an open meeting with Krzysztof Kieślowski’s family and friends.
On Thursday, July 3rd at 6:00 PM at CKK Jordanki, we will welcome screenwriter and daughter of the director, Marta Hryniak, acclaimed actresses Grażyna Szapołowska and Joanna Szczepkowska, the Golden Angels for Artistic Insolence laureates at BellaTOFIFEST IFF Mirosław Baka and Zbigniew Zamachowski, director Krzysztof Zanussi, as well as special guest Joanna Łapińska, artistic director of PFF in Gdynia. Admission to the event is free. After the meeting, we invite everyone to a screening of "A Short Film About Killing" (1987).
The "50 for 50" project, organized as a part of the celebrations of the 50th edition of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, is a unique initiative involving numerous cultural event organizers across the country. As a part of BellaTOFIFEST IFF, we have chosen to honor the works of an exceptional director who not only made an invaluable contribution to the development of Polish cinema, but also remains the only filmmaker to have won Gdynia’s Golden Lions three times. At the beginning of July in Toruń, we will present the timeless "Camera Buff" (1979), "A Short Film About Killing" (1987) and "A Short Film About Love" (1988).
The organizer of "50 for 50" is Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia – producer of the Polish Film Festival. The project is held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of the City of Gdynia. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Polish Film Institute. The main partner of "50 for 50" is Filmoteka Narodowa – Instytut Audiowizualny.
