The Golden Angel of Tofifest for Artistic Insolence goes to Ralph Kaminski!
Golden Angel Awards are given to those artists, whose artistic work is guided by bravery. To those, who are not afraid to go against the grain or pave new paths. Among those who have received this award before, there is Agnieszka Holland, Paweł Pawlikowski, Katarzyna Nosowska, Wojciech Smarzowski, Maja Ostaszewska and Maciej Stuhr. During the 21st edition of the festival, Ralph Kaminski will join this unique group of artists and receive the award on 27 June at the Opening Gala of the Tofifest IFF. Kujawy Pomorze Region.
This year, it will be our honor to reward a very remarkable artist, who has transformed Polish music scene, brought a breath if fresh air to it, and has ever since been consistent in following his own artistic path. He is a rebellious and brave artist, as much as he is surprising and unique in what he does. It is Ralph Kaminski, explains Kafka Jaworska, director of the Tofifest IFF. Kujawy Pomorze Region, to justify this choice.
Ralph Kaminski is a versatile artist, an author of lyrics, a composer, a music producer, a director of music videos, and a vocalist. He was born in Jasło, where he attended a music school. He is a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. His artistic work is well received by music critics, the testimony of which are the many nominations for the Fryderyk Music Award for the album ‘Młodość’ (Youth). He won a number of the Fryderyk statuettes for the music composed for the album ‘Kora’. Among other prestigious awards given to the artist in recognition of his artistic work, there is the Grzegorz Ciechowski Artistic Award of the City of Torun and Polityka’s Passport, the latter of which serves as a symbolic confirmation of the quality of his artistic achievements. In 2021, Ralph performed the song ‘Pięć minut łez’ that promoted the film ‘Moje wspaniałe życie / My Fabulous Life’, starring Małgorzata Zajączkowska, one of our festival guests. Ralph Kaminskis is also the author of the soundtrack for the film ‘Moje stare / My Old Gals’ directed by Natasza Parzymies, which is part of this year’s festival programme.
After the screening on 27th June, the audience will have a chance to meet Ralph Kaminski, Natasza Parzymies, and actresses Dorota Pomykała and Dorota Stalińska, in person, during an open meeting.

Tofifest is a fantastic film festival, and I love both cinema and film music, which has inspired me since the very first album that I have ever recorded, and the first music videos that I made. Being awarded for rebelliousness is a great compliment for me, as I believe that going outside one’s comfort zone is the most important ingredient of art, he adds.
The 21st edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival. Kujawy Pomorze Region takes place from 27th June, 2023, to 2nd July, 2023, (as always) in Toruń. Our festival audiences can see festival screenings at various locations, namely the Festival Centre in the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki, Cinema City, an open-air cinema in the yard of the Old Town City Hall, and in the Końcówa pub.
