Faust commends his soul to Mephistopheles, in return for which the latter grants him the lost youth back. After Faust returns from Italy, where he enjoyed life to the fullest, he falls in love with Margaret. He seduces the woman, and soon abandons her. Faust soon grows to curse the gift the Devil offered him, when Margaret is sentenced to death for killing her own baby...
