Andrzej Kenig, a former prisoner of a concentration camp, volunteers to do the work contracted by a representative of the government. He becomes part of a group of workers under the supervision of doctor Mielecki. Their job is to secure the property belonging to a health-resort located on the Recovered Territories, and then turn it into a sanatorium. It does not take long, before Kenig comes to realise that his colleagues from the team are looters, who will stop at nothing to become rich.
