Steve Nash & Film Orchestra — a concert of film soundtrack classics to open the 14th edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival
Tickets for the big event that accompanies the Opening Ceremony of the 14th edition of the Tofifest IFF are available from Wednesday morning. Steve Nash, a DJ champion of the world, and his Film Orchestra, including guest appearance of Polish music stars, Natalia Nykiel and Tomasz Organek, will performs classic of film soundtracks composed by such masters of composing, as Hans Zimmer, John Williams, or Ennio Morricone.
Steve Nash & Film Orchestra is a unique music project that has been created specifically for the purpose of opening the 14th edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival that starts on 15th October, 2016. Tickets are already available on Bilety24.pl.
This time, Nash, who is a composer, producer, pianist, and DJ, decided to work on music from the best Polish and international cinema. He used music composed by Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Andrze Kurylewicz, and Krzysztof Komeda, and arranged it, according to different music styles and genres. During the concert, we will have an opportunity to listen to the work composed for films about James Bond, Mission Impossible, Inception, American Beauty, and many others.
He has asked very original and unconventional musicians to join his project, all of whom are artists that mix different styles, combine genres, and look for their own musical expression.
Nykiel, Organek, and Orchestra
The concert will feature guest performances of Natalia Nykiel and Tomasz Organek. Natalia “broke the music bank” in 2014 with her album “Lupus Electro”, which was co-produced in cooperation with Katarzyna Nosowska, Natalia Przybysz, and Budyn from Pogodno band. Natalia is adored by Internet users – her music videos have already been watched by more than 60 million viewers.
As for Organek, he is a winner of the Fryderyk Award (for his cooperation with Sofa band) given by the Polish music industry, and of the Grzegorz Ciechowski Award. Tomasz Organek has conquered the charts and won the hearts of people with his solo album entitled “Glupi”. This year, he has been the headliner of the all-Poland tour under the name Meskie Granie Orkiestra.
Film Orchestra is a group composed of Steve Nash and the following nine people: Marek Pospieszalski (saxophones, clarinet, flute), Sławek “Kosa” Kosinski (electric guitar), Kamil Filipski (electric and classic guitar), Moo Latte (electronics and percussion pads), Marta Kotaszewska (cello), Wojciech Zadruzynski (percussion), Robert Rychlicki (bass guitar), and Dj Funktion (gramophones).
World Champions Own the Throne
DJ Funktion and Steve Nash have won the title of World Champions of DJs awarded by the International DJ Association (IDA), three times in a row. They have cooperated with Tofifest for a couple of years now. Steve became famous two years ago, when he presented his big project under the name Steve Nash & Turntable Orchestra, which offered a combination of a “DJ orchestra” (comprised of turntablists) and a symphony orchestra.
The 14th Edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival will take place in Torun, from 15th October to 23rd October, 2016. The main topic of this year’s edition will be a discussion about the rebellion of women and struggle for human dignity with reference to “Thelma & Louise” by Ridley Scott, which has its 25th anniversary this year.
