We are in a small town located along the Chilean coast of the Pacific Ocean. Four priests and a nun are living a quiet life there and the central event in the life of the town is dog races, in which their sighthound participates. This quiet life is interrupted, when a newly arrived priest commits suicide, as he cannot take the accusations hurled at him by a mysterious man. The Curia sends father Garcia, an energetic Jesuit, who initiates an investigation to solve this riddle.
