Margherita is a renowned film director. Unfortunately, the work on her new and quite complicated film production is not going as smoothly as one would wish for. It is further complicated by an American film star playing an episodic role, who can barely manage his dialogue lines in Italian. At the same time, Margherita has to face everyday challenges: troubles with her daughter, who is coming of age, her sick mother, and her broken relationship with a long-time partner, who happens to play the main role in her new film. How does one endure it all and not go insane? How do you find meaning, inner strength, and joy in a situation like this?
