Katowice, Upper Silesia. A boy, 18, who can’t find a place for himself in the world around him, falls in loves with Emilka, but has no idea how to communicate that to her... Emily Cries is a story about first love, set against the background of the Martial law in Poland that was introduced on 13th December, 1981.

Rafał Kapeliński is a director and screenwriter. In 1994, he graduated from the Department of English Philology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the Department of Media Management and Administration (MBA studies) at the University of Washington in Seattle, the London Film School, and the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield.
