It is 27th July, 1890. It is already after dark and a slim figure is tottering along a sleepy street in Auvers, a small town in France. The man has nothing on him, and he is pressing his hands against a fresh gunshot wound that is dripping blood. It is Vincent van Gogh, who was on that day a rather less famous artist, unlike today, when he is considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time. The fact that he died a tragic death has been known for a long time, but the exact circumstances and reasons for that fatal gunshot are largely surrounded by a veil of mystery... Loving Vincent tries to do exactly that: tell the story and reveal the circumstances behind that mysterious death. In addition, it is the first ever full-feature painting animation that has enchanted audiences all around the world.
