“I” feels the chronic loneliness and hostility of the world. Whatever he does is meaningless, both to himself and to others. Aggression is his most frequent reaction. He takes a lift to take out the rubbish, goes to and back from work, has dinner, then fixes his wardrobe, has his supper, shouts at his wife, and goes a walk in the evening, i.e. sits in his car smoking a cigarette. And then comes the night and in his dreams he has sexual encounters with his female neighbours, in the places he meets them most often: in the lift, in the corridor, or up in the attic.
