Tofifest 2012: Call for entries now open
Tofifest, the Polish “rebellious” film festival, has announced a call for entries for the upcoming fesival. The 10th anniversary edition of this prestigious international film event will be held in October 2012. Tofifest is in fact one of the most important film events in Poland that supports and promotes independent films and filmmakers. The Golden Angel Awards will be granted in three categories.
So far, Tofifest has invinted Jim Sheridan, Jiri Menzel, Emanuelle Seigner, Janusz Gajos, Jerzy Stuhr and Julia Jentsch to attend the IFF. Tofifest is currently calling for entries for the 2012 edition – 10th anniversary year! Producers and filmmakers are invited to submit films in three categories:
- ON AIR — international competition for full-length feature film debuts (and second feature films)
- SHORTCUT — international competition for short films (feature films, documentaries, experimental works, animations)
- FROM POLAND — national (Polish) competition for full-length feature films.
“While selecting films for the ON AIR Competition, we will put particular emphasis on the films which have not been previously presented at other festivals, especially at the Polish festivals” - says Kafka Jaworska, Director of Tofifest IFF. All kinds of films, i.e. feature films, documentaries, experimental works, animation, will be eligible for the SHORTCUT Competition. Only films not longer than 35 minutes will be accepted. The FROM POLAND Competition will focus on Polish films of the last two years. The premieres and debuts, including independent films, are particularly welcome. Golden Angel Awards are accompanied by prize money of €6,000.
If the films are not qualified for competitions, but they present in the Selection Committee’s opinion a high artistic quality, these films will be shown in the FORUM section which gives an overview of the best independent cinema of recent years. The 10th anniversary edition of Tofifest IFF will be held in the last week of October 2012.
The deadline for film entries is September 10, 2012. The film’s acceptance to the competition is determined by the receipt date of an online application. Preview copies must be submitted to the Festival Office within a week after the closing date for entries (until September 17, 2012).
