Tofifest awards have been given. Angels stay in Poland. The awards of the Tofifest International Film Festival were given on Sunday, during the Closing Ceremony. Grand Prix – the Golden Angel in the On Air competition has been awarded to director Bodo Kox and producer Wlodzimierz Niderhaus for their excellent “The Girl from the Wardrobe”. All other awards were divided among filmmakers from Poland, Cuba, and the USA.
Saturday, penultimate day of the Tofifest IFF brought a pleasant ceremony of awarding the Golden Angel to an outstanding Polish film director Krzysztof Zanussi. Another important event of the day was the Masterclass of Ulrich Seidl, an alphabet of editing with award-winning Milenia Fiedler, and the coolest film workshops for children – Filmogranie!
Friday was the fifth day of the festival and it first and foremost marked by the visit paid by Ulrich Seidl. He is a famous and rebellious film director from Austria, who received a Special Golden Angel of Tofifest, during his visit to the festival. The audience also had a chance to participate in meetings with Ulrich Seidl’s actress Margarete Tiesel, as well as with Bodo Kox, Jacek Dehnel
The Thursday at Tofifest was marked by film screenings, a discussion about the right to download films from the Internet, and meetings with interesting guests. The audience had an opportunity to meet with Maciej Pieprzyca, Martin Sulik, Krzysztof Lukaszewicz, and Dzmitry Vinsent Papko. And last but not least, two competitions
The second day of Tofifest was dominated by the first screenings in the four competition sections: Shortcut, Localisations, From Poland, and On Air – the most important of them all. The audience had an opportunity to meet, among others, with Romanian director and winner of Palme d’Or
The list of short films to compete for the Golden Angel during the 11th edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival has been revealed. 29 films from 18 countries will be featured in the competition. 24 of them will have their Polish or international premieres. The films have been selected out of more than 2,000 entries.
We will show more than 100 films, divided into ten-odd sections and four competitions. There will also be special awards for Polish stars of cinema: Kazimierz Kutz, Malgorzata Szumowska, as well as special visiting guests: Ulrich Seidl, Marian Crisan, and Martin Sulik. And last but not least, we will present reviews of cinema from Colombia, Syria, and Romania.
